SANTA ROSA, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say three South Carolina residents and a woman from Colorado are dead after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in eastern New Mexico.

The New Mexico State Police says the crash occurred Wednesday night near Santa Rosa, which is 117 miles (188 kilometers) east of Albuquerque.

State Police announced Thursday that the four people killed have been identified as 21-year-old Michelle Bates of Norwood, Colorado and three people from Little River, South Carolina — 39-year-old Renee Forman, 19-year-old Shyanne Wilber and 14-year-old Nikki Wilbur.

They say a recreational vehicle blew a front tire and crossed the median before colliding with two cars.

State Police say the four people killed all were in one vehicle.

They say the occupants of the two cars were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
