March For Public Education Friday In Las Cruces

Commentary: The state has already cut millions from Las Cruces Public Schools budget. Now Governor Susan Martinez is threatening to cut an additional 5% from LCPS equaling $8,870,234 punishing an already depleted school budget and hurting thousands of Las Cruces students.

In effort to send a loud and clear message to legislators and Governor Susan Martinez that LCPS students cannot afford further school budget cuts, school employees, students and the community will be wearing greenand participating in the March for Public Education on Friday, March 17, 2017 after school.

Though marches are planned for schools across the district, organizational efforts are being concentrated at Onate, Centennial, Las Cruces and Mayfield high schools after school-3:30 p.m.
