A resident has alerted the Doña Ana County Manager’s Office that she received a call today from an automated service seeking personal information in relation to a resort vacation promotion. She reported that the caller ID indicated the call came from Doña Ana County.
“We’re not in the resort vacation business, and we would never place such a call in person or through an automated system,” said Doña Ana County Interim Manager Chuck McMahon.
Anyone who receives such a call should not divulge any personal information or contact information.
Telephone scammers are adept at misleading people with manipulated caller ID information that can make calls seem like they are coming from official, trusted sources. All residents are advised to be wary of becoming victims of such scams.
