A 27-hour closure is scheduled to start at 3 am this Sunday, Aug. 20. The I-10 Eastbound ramps at Sunland Park will close for 27 hours – from 3 am to 6 am the next day. The upside:
- I-10 in both directions near Sunland Park will be open.
- The Sunland Park Overpass at I-10 will be open.
For motorists on I-10 East who want to access retailers along Sunland Park Drive, they may:
- Exit before Sunland at North Mesa (Exit 11), then take Mesa to Sunland Park Drive or take Mesa to Doniphan then take Doniphan to Sunland Park.
- Exit after Sunland at Executive Center (Exit 16), then take Executive Center Blvd to North Mesa, then take North Mesa to Sunland Park.
Attached is a flyer with all the details.
Crews will be hanging 21 of 36 beams on Sunday, each beam is about 110-feet long and each weighs about 75,000 pounds. Two cranes will be on site. The beams will bring the all-new Sunland Park Flyover Ramp closer to completion. It is a dangerous operation for workers. GO 10 thanks everyone for their patience.
P.S. -- LOOKING AHEAD
GO 10 could be implementing another 27-hour closure on Sunday, Sept. 10. It will be on I-10 West between Executive and Buena Vista. That date could change, depending on weather and other factors. Crews plan to re-stripe I-10 Westbound to switch westbound traffic onto the brand new collector-distributor (CD) lanes.
